Tan Soon Kiat has more than 24 years experience in the Information Technology Industry.
Soon Kiat started his career in 1980 as an Engineer, having returned from New Zealand under the Colombo Plan Scholarship. His first contact with the IT world was when he implemented a CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) system at the Ministry of The Environment. Since then, he’s was with IBM for 11 years in various positions, the last of which he was responsible for IBM’s ASEAN Engineering Technology Solutions. He then moved to ISP Services Pte Ltd, an IBM Distributor and system integrator. ISP was subsequently listed on the SGX main board. His last commercial sector work was as the COO of a Temasek Holdings investee IT company providing hosted application services in the aviation /MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) arena.
Taking a break from commercial life, he joined Community Chest, a charitable umbrella fund raising body where he helped in the marketing, strategic planning and branding before returning to the commercial sector to join Resource Dynamics.
He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours 1st Class) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, a MSC in Engineering from National University of Singapore and a MBA from the Strathclyde Business School, UK.
He’s married with a teenage daughter, and in his spare time, he maintains several alumni sites to help people connect with each other and to keep in touch with technology trends. |
